Five ladies from the Castle Oaks Swingers attended the TOCC held at Poppy Ridge in Livermore.  I understand 59 ladies participated in the tournament.  We played the 9 holes on the Zinfandel course.  Our club champion was Sandy Ferrario who placed 3rd in the Championship Flight.
As usual the restaurant served a delicious Butternut Squash and Pumpkin soup along with the salads and cold cuts.  There were several requests for the soup recipe. The chef came out and passed out the recipe so I was asked to share it with you all.

Monterey Pines 2-Day Event - September 13 & 14

grgea.jpg

The Castle Oaks Swingers sent a team of four to play in the tournament. We left Ione at 7:15 to get to the Monterey Peninsula by 12:00. We lucked out on the traffic and got their by 10:30. We had time to check into our room before heading to Monterey Pines GC. The course was in great shape and we could not have asked for better weather. The scores of the first day were accumulated with the second day. We met up with a couple of ladies whom we had met at golf and had a great dinner at the Fishwife in Pacific Grove. On Wednesday we had a 7:00am check in time at Pacific Grove GC. When we got to the course it was still dark. By tee time the sun was starting to come up over the course. Again the course was in great shape and the weather was perfect. Two of our ladies placed in the second flight.  Jackie Martinez came in 2nd in her flight and Conni Warren came in 3rd. Sandy Ferrario had the honor of playing with Sharon Henning from Modesto Muni who had a hole-in-one on the 10th tee which was our last hole of the day.  We ended the day by going to Cannery Row and enjoying lunch with a view of the water.

The Castle Oaks Swingers traveled to Elk Grove to play in the Valley Hi Invitational. Kaaren Johnson who has assumed the role of costume designer with our club put together diamond studded antenna headbands. They were a big hit. None of our ladies were in the winning 4somes but we did manage to walk away with some raffle prizes. Linda Lish will be rockin out with her new golf cart music system. Cindy Svedburg is now sporting new Maui Jim sunglasses. Yvonne Funderburg has a new supply of items for her pantry and Tia Meyers will be playing at Rancho Murieta with the 4some gift certificate she won. We would like to thank the Valley Hi Niners for a nice breakfast buffet and welcomed cold towel and chilled champagne after the round of golf. All this followed by a delicious lunch shared with members we met from other surrounding clubs.
